Swedish director Ingmar Bergman directed over 60 films during his career, utilizing a steady troupe of actors and crew, including his brilliant longtime cinematographer Sven Nykvist. Bergman was raised in a religious household and took to existentialist philosophers, most notably Soren Kierkegaard. Bergman’s films are very existential, debating the existence of God, how we give meaning to our lives, and how we connect (or don’t) with those around us. Bergman is one of my favorite directors, and I agree with Woody Allen in describing him as a genius. His most famous film is The Seventh Seal, yet all of the films he released around that time in his career are masterpieces.

- This is my blog wherein I offer criticism of the movies I watch. I don't restrict myself to any particular style of film, though I often do follow trends with my viewings. Feel free to comment to agree with, disagree with, or ridicule my opinions!
